odd garage opener

my garage opener is quite odd.
it won't open unless you warm it up with your hands, but if it's a warm day, then it's okay. however, if it's humid and warm, then that's not okay, apparently.
so, half the time my mother and i can get into our house, and the other times, we sit in her car for as long as up to fifteen minutes taking turns warming up our garage opener.
you may be thinking, why not use the house key? we would, but my brother has her key, and he lost it. so, we're screwed.
isn't that odd?
